The Big 8 & 6 Bets pay when either the 6 or the 8 is rolled before the 7 is rolled. This might sound like a sucker bet to gamblers in the know.

Big 6 Bet - Big 8 Bet
The big 6 and 8 is a lot like another bet on the table known as the place bet. The difference between the two bets is huge! The payoff for a place bet on the 6 and 8 is 7 to 6, and the payoff for the big 6 and 8 is 1 to 1! The same goes for the place bet, but given the 7 to 6 payoff allows the player to likely only lose one chip per 66 chips bet as opposed to one chip per 11 chips bet if betting on the big 6 and 8. If a player places the 6 and 8 the casino edge is around 1.
The two bets are basically almost the same bet but located in different areas on the layout. Do these bets work on the come out roll? The big 6 and 8 are always working on the come out roll while the place 6 and 8 are not working on the come out roll.
Depending on where you play craps, you may not even be offered the big 6 and 8 bet. For example, if you go to AC Atlantic City you will not find the big 6 and 8 bet on a craps table as they use to have players fighting over whose bet was whose since the players placed their own bets.
Eventually the casinos decided to eliminate the bet entirely from the layout and only offered the place bets. The big 6 and 8 may not be offered in some casinos but for the majority of casinos it is still in play. My thinking is that the player is simply not educated or ill informed regarding the two differences among the bets. The place bet is controlled by the dealer who actually puts your chips in the corresponding area based on your location at the table; this takes care of any arguing over who gets the payoff, unless the dealer screws it up.

Big six and big eight are two of the popular craps bets. As you can see on the craps table, they stick out because of their large numbers and prominence on the board, so it catches the attention of people. Really though, this bet is pretty simple yet it does not have really great odds.
Basically when you bet on big 6 for example, you are wagering that the shooter will roll any six before a seven is rolled. The same thing goes with big 8 except you want the shooter to roll an eight before a seven.
The actual odds of winning on these two bets are 6: This makes for a fairly large house edge of 9. Basically, the larger the house edge is, the more money you are going to lose over the long run since this edge is the casino's profit margin.
To be realistic, there are much better wagers that you can make on the craps table. This bet for example tends to attract people who do not know this complicated game very well since it looks simple. I displayed a screenshot below of the big 6 and big 8 in order to illustrate where these are located on the craps table. Do the ones at the Bellagio make more than the ones at the Sahara? I would imagine so but am curious as to how much more Well Krow first things first. I've been told that in most casinos, all dealers pool their tips and are paid by the house. As far as what they make? I'm sure it ain't bad, but I'm sure the card chuckers make more at Bellagio than the Sahara. I'm not sure how they compare at different casinos or for different games, but every dealer I know starts at minimum wage. The majority of casinos pay around minimum wage, so all the money comes from tips.
Krow, from the dealers I've talked to it's all about the tips. Like the good Dr. Hence Bellagio being a better paying gig. Also, many dealers work various games. Craps is, by far, the hardest.
They can make six figures at select choice places. Depends if they are a union casino or not. Union employees make more per hour, but have to give back the increase to the union in the form of dues.
Not enough to afford a cardboard box to live in LV. The real money makers are a very limited number of cocktail waitresses. They all make minimum wage for tipped employees. Dealers make minimum wage or just a little more. Dealers rely heavily on tips which are all pooled tgether. The tip you give a dealer goes into a community pot for later division among all dealers. Tipping is better at the better casinos, so dealers make more there. I realize tips are pooled, but I'm al little comfused by some of the answers here.
Since it's been said that some dealers can make 6 figures, do all dealers in a casino split all the tips, or is there some division such as all high rollers room dealers split their tips and the rest split their tips? Or each game divides it's tips among that game's dealers only?
